What are lice
Light brown, fat wingless insects with short legs that lay eggs (nits)that are stuck to the animals hair, particularly around the neck and ears. Use a parasitic preparation available from your vets.
What are fleas
These at elongated brown wingless insects with long legs. They occur particularly on the neck and around the abdomen. Treat bedding and living environment with a pesticide and treat the dog with frontline available from your vets.
What are harvest mites
Small, red larval mites. Just visible to the naked eye, mostly seen in the inter-digital spaces and in a small pocket that is present on the edge of the ear flap, near the head treat with frontline available from your vets.
What are ticks
Brown-ish, white rounded insects that lie attached to the skin by their heads which are firmly buried in the epidermis. You can use a topical flea and tick treatment available from your local vet but the best option is to have them removed by your local dog groomer or vet with a tick remover.
