The body’s response to any demand or change.
Causes of Stress
Work, relationships, finances, health problems, major life changes.
Effects of Stress
Anxiety, irritability, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, headaches, stomachaches.
Managing Stress
Get enough sleep, eat healthy, exercise, practice relaxation techniques, connect with others.
Developing Resilience from stress
Having positive outlook, strong social support, sense of meaning and purpose in life.
3 stages of stress response:

resistance
exhaustion
alarm reaction is
the initial fight or flight response
resistance stage is when
the body remains phyiologically aroused but adaptes to stressors
elevated hormones levels
exhaustion stage is
er prolonged exposure to stress, the body’s adaptive resources become depleted. This can lead to physical and mental fatigue, illness, and breakdown.
