Strengths of failure to function adequately Flashcards
1
Q
Name one strength of failure to function adequately
A
it recognises the subjective experiences of the patient
2
Q
How would you elaborate on the first strength
A
- it is a strength as it allows us to view or perceive mental disorder from the perspective of the person experiencing it
- this definition therefore has a certain sensitivity and practically
3
Q
Name a second strength of failure to function adequately
A
It is observable
4
Q
How would you elaborate on the second advantage of failure to function adequately
A
- it can be seen by others around the individual (i.e may not get out of bed in the morning, or keep a job down)
- failure to function can be easy to judge objectively as behaviours are observable (i.e can dress, can eat)
- this a strength because others can intervene if the individual is unable to make decisions or help themselves
