A

Asks about their length of stay, purpose etc.

A

Reflects the number of people registering with a GP whose previous address was outside the UK and who have spent longer than 3 months living in the UK

What are the limitations with Flag 4 Records?

A
  1. No indication of the delay between arrival and registration i.e. when they entered the UK
  2. No info. on patients who have left the UK
  3. Some don’t register with a GP at all, especially younger male economic migrants
  4. Flag 4 code not retained once a patient moves within the UK and registers with a new GP
  5. Age and gender recorded, but not nationality or place of birth

A

All A8 migrants (migrants from the 8 countries that joined the EU in 2004) were required to register to the scheme in order to work in the UK.
However, no longer operates
