Stimulus Fading Procedures Flashcards
1
Q
Define Stimulus Fading
A
Systematically fading out additional stimuli introduced to teach a skill to transfer control of performance from the ancillary stimuli to the target stimuli.
i. e.
- Using Most-to-Least prompting to transfer control of identifying a specific item from control of the prompts to control of the instruction and presence of the specified item only.
- Systematically fading the color and thickness of lettering used to teach penmanship to transfer control of performance from the visual stimuli to trace to the naturally occurring instruction to write specific letters, words, etc.
- Initially using a picture strip to help prompt hand washing, then slowly fading the size and clarity of the pictures until no additional visual is present when the client is washing their hands.
