what causes herpes and where?
HSV1 - MOUTH
HSV 2- GENITALS
rimary reaction in herpes
- gingostomatitis - ulcers on mourth and submandibular lymphadenopathy Mx - aciclovir chlorohexidine mouthwash
- Cold sores - Mx - topical acicilovir
- Painful genital ulcers - Mx - oral acicilovir
What is herpes zoster opthalmicus
rash around the eyes in particular Hutchinsons rash on tip or side of nose indicates nasocillary involvment it is a vsicular rash involving the actual eye
As a reasult there is loads of nerve and eye related complications such as ptosis and post hepatitc neuralgia
how does genital herpes present ?
initally associated with fever then later less severe and localised to one side
Symptoms of chancroid
unilateral inguinal lymphadenopathy that is enlarged and supparative with ragged sharpley defined wider determined border known as BUBOES
single/multiple painful ulcers - so is differentiated by herpes by the fact that phimosis is present (this is inflammed foreskin which is hard to retract) it is differentiated from syphilis by the fact that it is painless
A pap smear showed multinucleated giant cells with margins of chromatin and moudling of the nuclei what does this mean?

small painless pustules wider determined border
painful lymphadenopathy - UNIQUE TO THIS
proctocolitis - ALSO UNIQUE
single ulcer with no previous symptoms

cervisitis - discharge and bleeding with dysuria
men urethral dishcarge and dysuria
difference between TV and BV
TV - yellow/green frothy discharge
BV- thin white (mucoid) discharge
TV - wet mount mobile trophblasts- eosinophilic cytoplasm surronded by neutrophils and segmented nuclei
BV- clue cells
TV- strawberry cervix due to vulvovaginitis
Bot have offensive discharge and an increaase inn vaginal ph therefore they are both treated with oral mentronidazole
Candidia signs and causes
itching pain urinating and white discharge with white plaques caused by the gardella bacteria
Syphilis stages and treatment ?
primary - chancre - painless penile ulcer - not seen in women as lesion may be in cervix
secondary - 6-10 weeks later - fever rash is trunk palms and soles like chickenpox
teritary features - gummas granulomatous lesions of skin and bones
treatment - benzylpenecillin /doxy
