Place the microscope with body towards you

Use coarse focusing wheel to bring stage as close to objective lens as possible

Rotate nose piece to lowest power

Set up lam in front of microscope away from you

Turn the lamp on
Look down the eye piece lens and adjust the mirror until there is a full circle of light

Place specimen on stage, with specimen above iris diaphragm
Secure with clips

Adjust coarse focusing wheel and fine focusing wheel until the image is clear

Turn the nose piece to medium power
Keep adjusting the coarse focusing wheel and then the fine focus to fine tune the image
