Min rest 10 hours in 24hr period
77 hours in 7 day period
Intervals between rest not exceed 14hrs

What significance does the MLC have regarding rest hours?
2014 MLC applied hours of rest requirements to ALL seafarers not only officers, watch rating, security, pollution prevention & engineering crew as it states in the STCW code.
When is it appropriate for an OOW to be a sole look out and what are 8 considerations?
Clear daylight + helmsman readily available!
Appropriate when the following is considered:
Weather
Visibility
Proximity of hazards
Traffic density
In or near TSS’s
Arcs of visibility
Log keeping
Other duties such as GMDSS, Routine testing
