a patient comes in status epilepticus. what is the first thing you do.

A

get temp and o2 on the patient while you draw up midazolam (benzodiazepine)

what is the drug protocol

A

give a benzo three times every 30 ish seconds. if that fails
propofol CRI to effect.
then longterm seizure medication

patient of unknown status comes in seizuring. you stop the seizure and want to put on longterm drug. what do you chose.

A

keppra. until blood work comes back about liver values. then if safe will switch to phenobarb because it is better.

A

treat systemic signs, hyperthermia, hypertension, hypovolemia, acidosis, o2 status

start CRI of a benzo or propofol
