cloudy eye Flashcards
cloudy with ocular pain
edema. associated with three differentials
what type of edema is not painful
endothelial degeneration.
edema, normal IOP, not painful, FL-
likely endothelial degeneration
three causes of edema associated with pain
ulcer- FL
anterior uveitits- IOP, aq flare, hypopyon
glaucoma- IOP
you diagnose endothelial degeneration. now what
explain to owner that the other eye will likely become cloudy as well
how do you ddx a scar from edema
scars will be homogenous and have fibrosis
what can cause scarring
trauma, KCS- chronic exposure, chronic abrasion-ectopic cilia
hereditary, nonblinding, coalescing dots that are circular, glittery, refractile.
lipid distrophy
severe glittery, refractile lesion of the eye. can be perilimbal
lipid degeneration. look for hyperlipidemia
older dogs, glittery particles that look more crystalline, and spiculated
ocular degeneration-minerals. no treatment
heterogenous cloudiness, moth-eaten, mildly refractory. blood vessels present
systemic metabolic disease- cushings
cloudiness of the aqueous humor
aqueous flare or lipid flare
how to ddx aqueous flare from lipid flare
aqueous flare- uveitis. can still see iris
lipid flare- white, milky, obstructs the view of the iris.
cloudy lesions of the lens
nuclear sclerosis and cataracts
what lens lesion obstructs light
cataracts
