Young adults and teens would go to the pub and beer houses. There would be dancing, instruments being played, and drinking. There were some prostitutes there too. Even underage children came and drank.

There wasn’t much law and order outside London. The police wouldn’t go to some cities like Bradford for risk of being shot. The military was usually called upon to settle something. Only in 1856 were local councils forced to establish a police
