The model used to manage the economy from 1930s onwards where all key decisions on productions and targets were made centrally.
Totalitarian
A society where the government tries to control all aspects of people’s lives using force and propaganda.
NKVD
The secret police from 1934. Yagoda was head until 1936 then replaced by Yezhov who was replaced by Beria in 1938.
OGPU
The secret police replaced the GPU in 1923 and replaced NKVD in 1934.
Holodomor
The man-made Ukraine famine 1932-34
Socialist Realism
An art from which was propagandist, conveying that life under Socialism was happy for workers and peasants, and it was successful.
