What is Mendelow’s Matrix?

A

This matrix was created in 1991 and is a way of prioritising stakeholders and their needs. This is a square with four boxes which discusses the power and interest. The bottom left book is for ‘keep satisfied’ stakeholders, then the bottom right is for key players. The top ones are low priority and keep informed

  • They were not interested in finding any nature based solutions but this was a key focus on the application
  • Clarified these on a Team call – explained what had been submitted in the grant and how we could not deviate too drastically
  • Collaborated in a sense that it did not need to be thoroughly investigated but it was their role to consider it in their report
  • I re-wrote them a clear draft of their roles which was circulated to all parties

How did you advise MSES to create the compare functionality? Why did this satisfy all stakeholders?

A

I advised MSES by providing the need of the stakeholders. I then drafted the development instructions which we prepare for our software engineers. They are written up in a standard template form. I created graphics from screenshots of the existing tool and modified them to expand on my points.

This is a functionality which benefits all divisions as it is relevant to them all.

They were identified by the Project Manager. However, I have analysed their needs on Mendelow’s Matrix. I engaged these stakeholders frequently every week with some and every month with others
