Stages Of Learning Flashcards
What are the three stages of learning
Cognitive, associative, autonomous
What is the cognitive stage
Performance inconsistent, large number of errors, great deal of attention required
What is the associative stage
The fundamentals are in place athlete is refining skill, Inconsistencies decreases, fewer errors
What is the autonomous stage
Little attention required, consistent errors exist but are rare, athletes will usually correct own errors
What are the quality of changes across stages of learning
Rate of improvement Fluency Muscles involved Movement efficiency Selective attention Conscious attention Error detection
What is the transfer of learning
Application of one task to another which can be positive or negative
What is an example of transfer of learning
Drill is turning into a full skill
What are the types of transfer of skills
Positively improve skill
Hinders skill
No different
Proactive- previously learned applied to a new skill
Retroactive- Influence of new skill on an old skill
Bilateral- one affects the other
What is transfer for transfer
Similar transfer to practice task i.e. side drills
What is training fundamental capability?
Primary phase
What is optimising transfer
Using game related practice for example 5 versus five
What is minimise the negative transfer
Minimising the negative effects of a transfer for example a gymnast strengthening their wrists during a bar section
What is transfer of motor skills
One sport/event to another
For example a straight back on the floor being used as a flyaway on bars
