Indiscriminate attachments (Asocial).
What is the description of the first stage?
-Similar response to objects.
-Greater preference for people towards the end of 2 months.
-Reciprocity and Interactional Synchrony play a role in developing attachments.
What age is the second stage?
2-4 months.
What attachment is formed during the second stage?
Beginnings of attachment.
Describe the second stage.
-Seek attention from a number of people & generally content when they receive it.
-Prefer human company.
-May not yet show stranger anxiety.
What age is the third stage?
4-7 months.
What attachment is formed during the third stage?
Discriminate Attachment/Specific Attachment.
Describe the third stage.
-Develop strong attachment to one person.
-Show separation protest and stranger anxiety.
What age is the last stage?
7-9 months onwards.
What attachment is formed during the last stage?
Multiple attachments.
Describe the last stage.
-Strong emotional ties with other carers develop along with non-carers = secondary attachments.
