How do you carry out the Shapiro-Wilk test in SPSS?
A
- Analyze –> descriptive statistics –> explore
- drag variable into dependent list
- click ‘plots’
- choose ‘histogram’ and ‘normality plots with tests’
- continue –> ok
- output window under ‘tests of normality
- ‘sig’ under shapiro-wilk is the p-value
- if p-value smaller than 0.05 it is not normally distributed: significantly different
