- Head: Shape, symmetry, condition of hair and scalp
- Face: symmetric movements, appropriate expression emotional state
- Eyes: Redness, swelling, discharge, use of glasses/contacts, tracking, PERRLA, senile chart
- Ears: Redness, swelling, drainage, hearing problems, aides, check with otoscope
- Nose: Congestion, drainage, difficulty breathing
- Mouth and throat: Inspect using tongue depressor and pen light), pain, drainage, sores, hydration, trouble chewing/swallowing
- Lymph nodes: Palpates, accurate locations (auricular, occipital, cervical, clavicular), neck and shoulder mobility/strength
