• sport is a global commodity
• available worldwide
• (something that can be traded/bought + sold)
• players, franchises, events and TV rights
Factors causing globalisation
• increased worldwide travel (teams and spectators) e.g. pre-season games in far-east + middle east
• global media coverage
• freedom of movement (players)
• commercialisation (global sponsors)
Education and sport in the 21st century
• PE in schools is compulsory
• wide range of activities. I.e. national curriculum
• provision of EC activities
• club/school links
• exam PE - A-level, BTEC + GCSE
