There was decreased opportunity for women. The exception for women was lawn tennis because it was acceptable for women to play as it was played in garden.
How did Law and order change in post industrial Britain
Law and order changed as a result of the police force, which lead to illegalisation of many sports e.t animal sports, mob football. Started civilising process.

Development of railways which allowed teams to travel to play national fixtures, leading to development of football league. Development of regular national competition/fixtures. E.g FA cup, ashes,Calcutta cup. This made sport codified

Wages were low in working class, but they went up at end of century.
Cost of access was decreasing. Football stadia being built and it was more accessible for people to watch

Codification is process by which sports’ rules and regulations are written to formalise how game is played.

Initially, 72 hour week, however factory acts meant that they worked less. E.g Saturday and Wednesday was a half day.
