They nationally funded are groups that sports England work directly with
Activity alliance = national charity for those with disabilities
Sporting equals = promoting sport in BME population
Women in sport = Making sport more attractive to women
Street games = a charity providing sport to people from disadvantaged backgrounds
What work has the charity ‘streetgames’ done
- They try to strengthen the commitment to doorstep sport
- By people accessing sport in the local community it may overcome some issues surrounding low socioeconomic areas
What work has the ‘everyone can’ organisation done ?
- An initiative to change perceptions around disability and perception
- 10.2 million used to improve the type of sport on offer to disabled people
What work has been done by Sport England to increase female participation ?
- Womens sport has been made a priority for the 46 main sport NGB’s
- £2.3 million invested in Bury for ‘I will if you will’ campaign
- ‘This girl can’ scheme designed to overcome barriers women face
What work is being done by Sport England to increase ethnic minority participation ?
- £1 million invested into sporting equals - hopes to increase BME participation
- sporting equals promotes ethnic diversity across sport
