- haematogenous spread
- direct penetration of abdominal wall

- abdo pain
- fever
- rigors
- sepsis
- tachycardia

- ascitic tap –> send fluid for MC&S
- Bloods

Test findings?
A
- elevated WCC (neutrophils), CRP, ESR

Management?
A
- IV antibiotics
- ascitic drainage
