What is it?
A
intestinal metasplasia due to prolonged acid exposure of the distal oesophagus

Pathology?
A
squamous epithelium –> mucin-secreting columnar epithelium

Complications?
A
it is a pre-malignant condition, so can go on to cause dysplasia / adenocarcinoma

Treatment?
A
- endoscopic MUCOSAL resection
- radio-frequency ablation
- oepshagectomy rarely
