42 airline executives and 56 psychology students
What were the four different conditions?
Control, intellectualization, trauma, and denial.
What is the control soundtrack?
There was no soundtrack.
What is the intellectualization soundtrack?
Soundtrack stating only dry facts and gave an anthropological viewpoint.
What is the denial soundtrack?
The soundtrack showed the boys as happy to be having the surgery.
Who were assigned to each condition?
21 airline people were shown the denial soundtrack, the other half shown the intellectualization. 56 students split into four groups (14 each) and put in one of the four conditions.
What were the results of the study?
People in trauma condition reacted with more emotions. People in the intellectualization condition had lower heart rate and stress compared to control group.
