Q

What is done in the AES

A

Sample is converted into gas then excited using a flame or electricity
Which excites the atoms which then release energy in the form of light

Q

What is AES

A

Atomic Emission Spectroscopy
Used for chemical analysis ( identification and analysis of elements within a sample) quantativelh as it measures the light produced
Usually fit invisible region 400-700nm
Sme tikes energy difference is greater and falls into UV region 200-400nm

Q

What is done to the electrons in the AAS

A

Promoted to higher energy levels by absorbing energy

Usually within 200-700nm
