McCarron-Dial System (MDS)
assess prevocational, vocational, educational abilities with disabilities and/or sociocultural disadvantages in 5 main areas:
cognitive, verbal, spatial
sensory

emotional
coping, integrative, adaptive behaviors
method: pre-screening interview is conducted and referral info is reviewed
work samples for each of 5 main areas are adm in structured test setting
systematic observation of ind in a work or classroom setting is conducted
materials: 6 est and published assessment tools are used along with work samples and behavioral observations, computer program
scoring: completion of a min 3-day workshop to is required, each published instrument scored according to ind scoring protocol

Reading Free Vocational Interest Inventory
ID of vocational areas of interest and/or patterns of interest in vocational areas
method: presents a group of 3 pics rep unskilled, semi-skilled, and skilled job tasks and asks to select pic that rep job task most preferred
materials: 165 pics and scoring profile sheet
scoring: selections converted into a numerical score that rep his/her level of interest (low, avg, high)
population: adolescents and adults with learning or dev disabilities

perf of real or simulated work tasks based on person’s interests
materials: equipment and supplies as needed to perform each specific work task

clerical, assembly, and manufacturing jobs main focus
scoring: perf can be compared to TOWER norms which were obtained for persons with disabilities

Valpar Component Work Sample (VCWS)

scoring: quality of and time to a Method Time Measurement (MTM) which is standard with normative data for comparisons, 17 worker behavior characteristics are rated on 5 point scale
population: adults with/without disabilities, adapted version for visually impaired
Vocational Interest Inventory- Revised (VII-R)
student interest in employment areas for adolescents who are unclear about voc interests
completion of questionnaire with 112 forced choice statements
scoring: ind occupational interests are compared to est norms and a list of interest-compatible college majors are obtained
population: HS students
Vocational Interest, Temperament, and Aptitude System (VITAS)
assess vocational interests, temperament, and aptitudes to assist with career guidance and vocational placement
completion of up to 22 work samples and vocational interest interview
6th grade reading level required
scoring: time and quality of perf are scored based upon evaluator’s observations and compared to est norms
