What gives rise to the placenta?
A combination of maternal tissues and embryonic tissues.
Trophoblast
What is the chorion and what creates it?
Trophoblasts create the chorion. It’s an extraembryonic part of the embryo.
Function of the amnion
Protection, regulates temp, prevents embryo from drying out, prevents tissues of embryo from sticking to another surface.
What forms the umbilical cord?
The yolk sac and the connecting stalk.
What forms the anus?
The cloacal membrane
What forms the mouth?
The oropharyngeal membrane
What gives rise to the ears?
Otic placode
What gives rise to the eyes?
Lens placode
What is the notocordal process?
Hollow tube of cells which will form the notocord
What is the notocord?
A solid rod of cells which acts as an inducer by telling other tissues what to become
What is the neural plate?
Long column like ectoderm cells
What are the 3 types of so it’s and what do they form?
Dermatome: CT
Myotome: Black and neck muscle
Sclerotome: ribs and vertebrae
Where does fertilisation occur?
Fallopian tube
