Special handling argo shipments
these shipments will be airlifted under the care of an aircrew member on all military missions. special care and treatment of these items is of utmost importance. special handling aerial port personnel will deliver or pick up these specific items at the AC
Custodial Transfer
AMC airlift system, DD Form 1385, cargo Manifest is used as the transfer document to transfer custody of special, classified/security cargo shipments to aircrew members or air terminal representatives. Out side the AMC airlift system, DD Form 1907, Signature and Tally Record is NORMALLY used to transfer custody.Retain signed manifest copy for personal records for at least 2 years of all special, classified/security cargo shipments manifest they have signed for. DD Form 1907 at not time will be attached to the cargo.
Classified and Security Cargo
all aircrew members and air terminal representatives who receipt for classified shipments must possess a security clearance equal to or highter than the highest classification of the affected shipment.alternatively, shipments may be moved under the care of an authorized escort/courier.
Other items requiring signature service
some of these items include biologicals and blood of such urgency that human life depends upon immediate receipt, human remains, and money or gold bullion, registered mail, and perishable items
DD Form 1387-2, Special Handling Data/Certification
Is used to identify and provide special handling instructions for biologicals, classified, in-bond, perishable, remains of deceased personnel, and signaure service shipments when shipped by military air. will be prepared by the shipper and affixed to each container requiring special handling
NOTE:
DD Form 1387-2 for classified cargo should not show the classification of the material, however, it will reflect “see aircraft commanders copy” and “protective service required” in block 6
Registered Mail
Official registered mail may contain up to and including SECRET material. all registered mail must be safeguarded and provide a complete audit trail within DTS. seals are intact and the seal number on the containers and manifests match. discrepancies must be corrected before AC departure. Aircrew members remain responsible for integrity of containers and security of shipments while under their control.
Loose Registered Mail
Transfer of loose registered mail will occure in the same manner as containerized mail, except seal nmbers of individual pieces will be confirmed. retain signed copies of manifest for at least 2 years
Regular Mail
includes airmail, parcel post, air parcel post and ordinary mail.
Special Markings
Cargo bearing labels marked “999” or MICAP/VVIP Requires expeditious handling.
999 is used for high priority shipments.
MICAP/VVIP used for MX items such as parts.
These items are transferred using a cargo manifest a a receipt.
