What is meant by friability?
The tendency for a tablet to chip, crumble or break following compression
What is meant by crushing force?
The force required to break the tablet along a given axis
What is meant by tensile strength?
Stress required to induce flow in the material i.e. resistance to breaking under tension
What are the units for crushing force?
Newtons or kiloponds
Why can’t crushing force be compared across tablet sizes?
Because it is dependent of tablet size and shape
