Confined Space
A confined space refers to a space which:
-Is not intended for continuous occupancy
-Has limited openings for entry and exit
-Has unfavorable natural ventilation which may contain: a toxic and/or flammable atmosphere
oxygen levels below 19.5% or above 23.5%
-Is an open-top space more than four feet deep.
Confined space first arriving unit will:
1) Establish command
2) Size-up the incident
3) Determine the condition of the victims prior to entry
4) Determine the condition of the atmosphere
5) Initiate the appropriate action

- Safety officer
- Accountability officer
- Rehabilitation officer
Confined space operational positions
- Atmosphere monitors
- Ventilation
- Lock out/Tag out
- Attendant
- Entry team
- Entry Rescue team

Pre-entry
If there is ______ point, duct work should be placed in the confined space and positive pressure ventilation applied.
