Q

A

Copying behaviour previously observed in others, In SLT imitation, is a selective process and only models with key characteristics are likely to be imitated

Q

Define vicarious reinforcement

A

Reinforcement refers to a consequence of behaviour that increases the likelihood of that behaviour being repeated. In this case, it is watching another person benefit or suffer due to certain behaviour and learning from that

Q

Research evidence for social learning theory

A

SLT is supported by Banduras studies where the influence of different gender models were tested along with whether children would imitate the way an adult played with a toy called a Bobo doll

Q

Application of social learning theory to violent behaviour

A

A strength of SLT is that it explains the alleged claims on movies and games on behaviour especially violent behaviours. The study were some of the first reasons for age ratings on games. For example, a young child who killed another child had allegedly watched a very violent movie before.

Q

Research evidence against social learning theory

A

A weakness of SLT is the biological factors involved in aggression, behaviour and obedience. Twin studies with the same mentor demonstrated different behaviours.
