mostly reference groups, dual-process dependency model (social approval and information about reality)
Power
capacity to influence others while resisting their influence at the same time
Leadership
powerful role in group but not necessarily depending on power, rather persuasion and conformity to reach goal

people are raised to respect authority, especially authority of the sate which can easily lead to obedience
