- By 1941 4 million had found jobs doing wartime work
- Farmers prospered through supplying food to the military
- Traditional industries of coal, iron, steel and oil were all boosted by the demands of war.
- Lend-lease programme stimulated the economy as jobs were created so more Americans were spending money (cycle of recovery)
