They can be used to help improve fitness and each help an athlete improve performance
What are the 6 methods of training?
Continuos, Fartlek, Circuit, Interval, Plyometrics, Weight
What do you need to take into consideration when choosing a method of training
Specificity, Facilities in the local area, Individual needs, Requirements of the sport. You also need to take into consoderation what method of training you are using as choosing incorrectly could lead to injury
Continuous Training
Working the entire body for long periods of time
What Component of Fitness does Continuous training improve?
Cardiovascular fitness
2 advantages of Continuous Training
- Inexpensive
- Can be done alone or on a group
2 disadvantages of Continuous training
Where did Fartlek training originate and what does it mean?
It originated from Sweden. The word ‘fartlek’ means ‘speed play’
Fartlek training
A method of training where the terrain and speed constatntly change Includes periods of work and rest (like interval training). However, sessions include sprints of varying distances not necessarily measured distances as in interval training.
Circuit Training
A series of exercises completed for a certain amount of time/reps, after one another
Advantages and Disadvantages of Fitness Classes
Advantages:
- Can play in important role in your health and well-being
- There are a huge range of general snd specialits classes availabe
Disadvantages:
- Expensive
- May involve lump payments in advance
- Some classes are far away
