Why is it important to apply the principles of training to our training?
To ensure the prevention of injury
Why must you play by the rules of a sport?
You must play to the rules to make sure the competiton is fair and safe and no one gets injured. If you don’t play the rules, you recieve a punishment (could be a yellow card in football)
Why is important to wear protective equipment during a game?
Wearing protective equipment will vary depending on the sport and position but helps prevent injury towards players (e.g. shin pads in football). It’s also important to not wear clothing that might injure an opponent (e.g. jewellery)
Why is it important that organisers and officials check equipment and facilities?
Organisers and officials need to check equipment for safety before an activity or competition (e.g. checking pitches)
Why is important to warm up and cool down?
Performing a warmup and stretching increases blood flow to working muscles and helps avoid injury. Perfroming a cool down helps the dispersal of lactic acid and avoid muscle stiffness
What does RICE stand for?
Rest, Ice, Compress and Elevate
What are the 8 types of injuries?
Soft tissue, Sprain, Strain, Torn Cartilage, Fracture, Dislocation, Concussion, Abrasion

Definition of Torn Cartilage
Damaged elastic substance which lines adjoining bones
Definition of a Fracture
Broken or cracked bone

A dislocation is when a bone at a joint is forced out of its normal position
Symptoms of a Concussion
Symptoms include headaches, loss of coordinatoon, confusion or slurred speech
