What happens when people smoke
The chemicals irritate the lining of the breathing tubes and causes Corbett cells to produce more mucus. The mucus can burst the alveoli destroying the gaseous exchange surface
Does smoking affect your breathing
Breathing becomes difficult as the alveoli are damaged and enlarged
Why does mucus accumulate
It damages the cilia which cannot move the mucus
Why is cancer a risk
Smoking damages the ciliated epithelium cells which become cancerous
What does ciliated epithelium cells do
They line the trachea and bronchi, produces mucus which traps dust and fine particles
What chemicals are in cigarette smoke
Nicotine which stimulates nerve cells in the brain which control the heartbeat
Where does nicotine go
It passes into the blood, the heart beats faster and a blood pressure increases which is dangerous as it can cause strokes brain damage and kidney failure 
What affect does it have on the body
It discolours your teeth
makes you smell
gives people wrinkles
What is passive smoking
Involuntary breathing in the same smoke of other smokers
What are the dangers of smoking
Increases heart rate and blood pressure
Contains tar which can cause cancer
Starves body of oxygen and nutrients and minerals
Physically impaired children if mother smoke
health disorders
Why do people smoke
It relaxes them
Feel less anxious
Great pleasure
Why is it hard to quit smoking
People find themselves drawback to smoking cause the bodies build up a tolerance and need chemicals
