Smart Materials Flashcards
What are smart materials and what is the purpose ?
These respond to a stimulus such as light and they go back to their original light when the stimulus is removed. They can attract and warn customers.
What are thermochromic inks?
These change colour with temperature and can be printed on paper, ceramics, and textiles, as well as plastic. This can be used on a thermometer in order to show the temperature of the body. This is safe to use.
What are photochromic inks?
These change colour when the light changes, such as light sensitive glasses.
What are electrochromic inks?
These change colour according to electrical input. The input can be small for a dramatic change in colour. The mirrors darken when the ink detects a bright light, to reduce glare.
