Developing Ideas Flashcards
What is a model?
A graphic development. This is usually scaled down and could be used for drawings of large venues!
What is a prototype?
This is a 1:1 working model used for testing, development, and evaluation.
What is a mockup?
This is a working model to allow for evaluation. This is built for study, testing, and display.
What does this scale 2:1 show?
The prototype would be twice the size - an earring.
What does 1:1 show?
A mobile phone.
What does 1:2 show?
A laptop - half the size scale.
What would be 1:10?
A piece of furniture!
What would be 1:100?
A garden or house!
What would be 1:500?
A sports venue
What is involved in initial ideas?
Most of the ideas won’t be used. For the ideas chosen the typeface, logos, and images used should be considered.
What is involved in CAD for designing? Advantages?
CAD helps to develop designs. This shows a variety of views, colours, and textures, allows for designs to be ditched or developed, feedback can be given, and it is easy to change designs.
What is involved in modelling for designing?
A 2D design develops into a 3D development. This allows for the prototype to be seen from all angles while also allowing feedback!
What is the target audience based on?
Age, gender, occupation, interests, values, and socio-economic background.
What is the process of developing a target audience?
Target segmentation : Evaluate all target segments and develop profiles.
Target marketing : Evaluate target segments and pick one.
Product positioning : Decide on how to aim the product, develop and communicate the concept.
What is a product which was developed due to a gap in the market?
The netbook - developed due to an increase in the need for laptops which can browse the internet and be involved in mobile communications. Needed for ICT students.
