Q

Strengths of case studies

A

-provide rich data and they can get lots of detail on why people behave in a certain way — unlike quantitative

-they use naturally occurring scenarios that couldn’t initially be set up by an experimenter for ethical reason

Q

Weakness of case studies

A
  • there are ethical issues as informed consent cannot be difficult to obtain if they have a disorder/incapacitated to hinder giving fully informed consent

-there is difficulty with generalization as only a single person is used therefore it’s difficult to generalize these findings
