Sleeping Article Flashcards
Gross motor performance as measured by the Ames was more advanced in infants who slept supine and had been placed in the prone position want to wait then in infants who slept in time but had limited or no experience in the prone position while awake
The findings appear to support the systems perspective of motor development whereby the environment the caregivers positioning of the influence influences the gross motor performance of the infant who is six months old. Future research with more diverse samples of infants would be important to confirm these findings in addition a longer study that examines long-term influence on motor development of decreased awake time spent in prone position needs to be done
