Bones that make up the brain case:
frontal, occipital, R&L parietal, R&L temporal, sphenoid, and ethmoid bones

Paired “forehead” bone

Paired bone; forms the dorsolateral part of the calvaria
occipital bone
Forms the caudal wall of the calvaria
occipital condyle
Large condyles of the occipital bone; located on either side of the foramen magnum

temporal bone
Extends from the zygomatic arch to the occipital lobe; ventrolateral to the parietal bone

Caudoventral portion of the temporal bone; incloses the inner ear; seen from the medial aspect of a sagittal section

Bulbous enlargement of the ventral portion of the temporal bone; encloses the middle ear
external acoustic meatus
Dorsolateral opening of the temporal bone; boney ear canal
cribriform plate
Part of the ethmoid bone which separates the nasal cavity from the calvaria; lacelike structure
incisive bone
Forms the rostral portion of the face; holds incisors; and forms the hard palate
nasal bone
Forms the bridge of the nose and roof of the nasal cavity
nasal cavity
Facial portion of the respiratory passages
nasal aperture
Formed by the nasal and incisive bones; opening to the nasal cavity
