What are the 7 warning signs of skin cancer?
- C: change in bowel or bladder habits
- A: a sore that does not heal
- U: unusual bleeding or discharge
- T: thickening or lump in breast or elsewhere
- I: indigestion or difficulty swallowing
- O: obvious change in wart or mole
- N: nagging cough or hoarseness
What are the types of skin cancer?
> Basal cell carcinoma
Squamous cell carcinoma
Malignant melanoma
Basal Cell Carcinoma
> Most common type
Occurs most often on the sun-exposed areas of the face
In 99% of the cases, surgery is the cure
Squamous Cell Carcinoma
> Occurs most often on scalp, ears, and lower lip
> Grows rapidly and will metastasize is not removed
Malignant Melanoma
> Originates in the melanocytes located in the basal layer
Melanocytes produce melanin, the pigment in your skin
Most deadly
Spreads rapidly

> Asymmetry: the 2 sides do not match
Border Irregularity: the edges are jagged
Color: not uniform
Diameter: the spot is larger than 6 mm in diameter
