What is erythema nodosum?

A

Inflammation of subcutaneous fat that causes tender erythematous, nodular lesions. They usually occur on the shins and resolve within 6 weeks.

They can be caused by infections (TB) systemic diseases (sarcoid, IBD, bechets) malignancy, drugs (COCP) or pregnancy

How is erythema nodosum treated?

A

Most cases are self limiting over 3 - 6 weeks
