What is the treatment for fungal nail infections?
Oral terbinafine or itraconazole (6 weeks - 3 months for fngernails and 3 - 6 months for toes)
What is erythrasma?
An asymptomatic flat slightly scaly pink or brown rash that is usually found in the groin or axillae. It is caused by an overgrowth of corynebacterium minitissmum
If you examine with a woods light you will see a coral red fluoresence
How do you treat erythrasma?
Topical miconazole or topical antibacterial
Oral erythromycin

trichophyton fungi
How do you treat athletes foot?
Topical imidazole or terbinafine
What is erythema multifrome?
A hypersensitivity rash that has a target appearance. It is most commonly triggered by infections with the most common being herpes simplex
What is the most common cause of tinea capitis?
Trichophytan tonsurans Microsporum canis (from cats or dogs)
What is the management of tinea capitis?
Oral antifungals (terbinifine) Topical ketoconazole
What is the most common cause of tinea corporis?
Trichophytan rubrum
How do you treat tinea corporis ?
oral fluconazole
What is the treatment for scabies?
Permethrin 5%
Malathion
What kind of hypersensitivity reaction causes the itch in scabies?
Type IV reaction to the mites/eggs which occurs 30 days after the initial infection
