Joints
.The areas where two or more bones meet. Most joints are mobile, allowing the bones to move.
Ligaments
.A short band of tough, flexible connective tissue that holds together a joint
Cartilage
.Firm, flexible connective tissue. It is more widespread in infants, being replaced by bone during growth
Axial
The head and trunk. Skull, rib cage, and back bone
Appendicular
Appendages: legs and arms
Endoskeleton
An internal skeleton (bones)
Exoskeleton
An external skeleton (shells)
Bone marrow
A soft, fatty substance in the cavities of bones. Produces blood cells.
Spongy bone
.A porous type of bone usually located at the ends of a long bone. Contains red bone marrow
Compact bone
.A dense material that makes up the hard structure of the skeleton.
