Six Sigma Flashcards
What is Six Sigma?
A methodology based on statistical methods, which improves quality by reducing errors and variability. A process that produces less than 3.4 defects per million opportunities.
What are the acceptable limits?
We put limits to consider the output acceptable
They allow to define, measure, improve, analyze and control
What is CTX?
Critical to X. A general term representing critical aspects like quality, cost, or throughput.
What is CTQ?
Critical to Quality. Attributes most important to the customer.
What is CTT?
Critical to Throughput. Factors that limit the speed or capacity of a process.
What is the Sigma Scale?
A universal metric of the performance of a characteristic/feature.
The greater the sigma, the fewer the errors.
Represents the standard deviation of a normal distribution.
What is DMAIC?
Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control.
A problem-solving methodology used in Six Sigma.
What is Define (DMAIC)?
Define the scope of the project, form the team, create a SIPOC diagram, set customer needs and metrics, and prepare the project charter.
What is Measure (DMAIC)?
Fix the inputs and outputs of the process, prepare questions to gather data, review collected data, and establish the initial state of the process.
What is Analyze (DMAIC)?
Prepare a list of hypotheses relating process inputs and outputs, check the validity of these hypotheses, and generate more hypotheses as needed.
What is Improve (DMAIC)?
Generate a list of potential process improvements, prioritize proposals based on cost/impact, conduct pilot tests, and implement selected improvements.
What is Control (DMAIC)?
Establish a control system to monitor improvements, track the evolution of the process (KPIs), measure impacts, and define roles for ongoing control and monitoring.
What is SIPOC?
Suppliers, Inputs, Process, Outputs, Customers. A tool used to define the boundaries of a process.
What is VOC (Voice of the Customer)?
The process of capturing customer requirements and feedback.
What is the Project Charter?
A document that formally authorizes a project and provides a summary of the project’s objectives and scope.
What are Process Maps?
Visual representations of a process used to clarify its structure, identify risk points, and analyze value creation.
What is Quality Control (QC)?
Monitoring specific results to determine whether they comply with quality standards and correcting deviations as necessary.
