[SITTING START]

Put your opponent on their back from sitting

A
  1. If you and your opponent are sitting and they have one knee up and one knee on the floor, keep your legs in between you and post your hands up against their shoulders to keep the space.
  2. Get a cross collar grip on the same side their knee is up. Make sure your grip is in front of their shoulder (not too high or your hand will pop over their shoulder and you will lose the pressure). Keep this arm straight.
  3. With your other hand, grip the hem of their pants on the side their knee is up. Leave one foot (the same side as you have a cross collar grip) in between your opponent’s legs and tuck the other one under you to prepare to stand.
  4. Use your cross collar grip arm to push your opponent back while at the same time pull their foot out from under them with your other hand. In the same motion, stand to pass guard by knee slicer or any other move to get on top of your opponent.

Option: When you stand, their leg should be between yours at this point. Keep your grip on their pant leg to keep their leg low. Do a ‘donkey kick’ with your trailing leg to step over their leg and ensure they don’t hook it and then drop into side control.

Cross collar drag to back take from sitting

A
  1. If you and your opponent are sitting and they have both knees on the floor, keep your legs in between you and post your hands up against their shoulders to keep the space.
  2. Get a cross collar grip and post your opposite hand on the floor behind you. Shift your hips ‘out of the way’ and use the cross collar grip to jerk your opponent forward onto the floor on the opposite side. They should plant both hands on the floor to keep from face-planting.
  3. Keep one trailing leg between your opponent’s legs to set up the hook while climbing to their back to get the seatbelt established.
  4. If you can take their back fully, do it. Otherwise, force your opponent to the floor by straightening your hooking leg and taking away their base.
  5. If your opponent is raising their leg to keep you from putting the second hook in, hip escape until you are chest-to-back with your hips facing same direction as theirs. If you still don’t have space to put your second hook in, triangle their bottom leg and straighten them out to make space. Then put your second hook in and fight hands for the choke.

Arm drag to back take

A
  1. If facing opponent on your knees, grasp their sleeve with same-side hand.
  2. With your other hand grasp/cup the back of their tricep near the armpit
  3. Jerk their arm to your hip on the opposite side to force them onto all fours. Use that same movement to get the seatbelt on. The hand that was gripping the sleeve should form the underhook.
  4. Move the leg closest to opponent’s head to shift knee to their shoulder and rotate shin so it is parallel with their torso.
  5. Step your other foot in between their feet and drag their closest foot nearer to you, breaking their base.
  6. Sit down on your butt. This motion should automatically place one hook in and you can roll to put the other hook in.
