Q
[MOUNT - BOTTOM]
[TRANSITION]
Tactic - shifting from high mount into low mount
A
- If your opponent has you in high mount (knees under shoulders, sitting high on your chest), you need to move them to low mount to have a chance of escaping.
- Grab what you can of their gi and bridge high.
- In one movement shove them downward with your hands while shooting your hips toward your head (trying to sit up) and try and shift them down your body into low mount.

[MOUNT - BOTTOM]
[TRANSITION]
Escape mount into half guard
A
- If your opponent has you in low mount, turn on your side and plant both hands on their knee.
- In the same motion, push down hard while shrimping to get one leg free and put your opponent in half guard.

Q
[MOUNT - BOTTOM]
[TRANSITION]
Escape high mount into closed guard
A
- If your opponent has you in high mount, immediately try to bump them forward so both their hands (or even one hand) post against the floor.
- Once your opponent has a hand on the floor, immediately grab it. You should get an ‘over/under’ grip (with the arm nearest their’s going underneath) and close your hands in the ‘gable grip’. With your hands locked, pull your opponent’s arm tight to your chest.
- Once your opponent’s hand is secured, bridge over your shoulder HARD to the side you have trapped the arm. Without their hand to post, you should be able to roll over into your opponent’s closed guard.

Q
[MOUNT - BOTTOM]
[TRANSITION]
Grab arm, trap foot, and sweep
A
- If your opponent is in mount and grabs for your collar, immediately trap their arm using your arms and trap their foot on that same side with your foot.
- Bridge over your shoulder and roll your opponent to sweep them and land in closed guard.
Note: You do not need to wait for your opponent to grab your collar. You can also bump them forward so they plant both hands on the ground for base. Once they do that, pick an arm to grab and trap.

Q
[MOUNT - BOTTOM]
[SUBMISSION]
If opponent defends basic rolling sweep, escape into x guard and finish with a foot lock
A
- If your opponent is in mount and defends your attempt at a sweep by stepping foot up to avoid trap, release their trapped arm and plant your hands on their hips.
- Hip escape (hips facing the opposite direction of their raised leg) to create space for you to place your opponent into your x guard and finish them with a foot lock.

Q
[MOUNT - BOTTOM]
[TRANSITION]
Bump opponent up, bench press them by the hips and get them into butterfly guard
A
- If your opponent is in low mount, place both hands on their hips and use your knees to bump your opponent forward to force them to put their hands on the ground over your head.
- Once their hands touch the mat, bench press them upward by the hips and bring your knees between their legs.
- Extend your legs outward so your opponent lands in your butterfly guard.
