  • Pentavalent antimonials: sodium stibogluconate, SSG meglumine
  • Toxic side effects / drug resistance, 30+ days of IM/IV injection
  • AmBisome: liposomal amphotericin (polyene)
  • 1-5 days of IV injection
  • Miltefosine (phospholipid)
  • Only oral drug for VL
  • Paromomycin (aminoglycoside)
  • 21 days of IM injection
