Q

What was the procedure of the original research?

A

This was known as the cross study. Ppt’s had to judge which of the two arms of the crosses shown were the longest.
They then presented a smiley face and ppt’s were asked whether they saw it or not - this was the unexpected event.

Q

What were the overall results?

A

Inattentional blindness = 46%.

18
Q

What conclusions can you draw from this experiment?

A

The harder you focus on something, the higher your inattentional blindness.

Therefore, inattentional blindness exists.

A

Simons and Chabris is under the cognitive area
