Anti Ice
Engine anti ice used when
TAT (total air temp) 10c or below
In visible moisture
Engine anti ice on the ground
OAT less than 10c and in visibility of 1500m or less
Wing anti ice on ground
Type 2 or type 4 de icing fluid we shouldn’t use it
Icing conditions
When selecting engine anti ice on what must we do?
Engine ignition on continuous to prevent potential flame out as Ice brakes off the cowling and is sent back through the engine
Why can’t we switch the electric hydraulic pumps on the ground?
Because the leading edge flap could retract and could be dangerous for CRew on the ground
Engine start control switch
Ground - opening bleed valve to the starter motor
Held in GND mode until
300- 46% N2 (percentage of max rpm)
700- 55% N2
Then automatically goes back to off
Continue ignition
Each engine has L and R igniters selected on the pannel
Flight Both igniters working at the same time Used in wind shear Turbulence Heavy precipitation Used against flame out
MCP
Flight directs
- whichever one is switched on first become master (f/o or Capt)
Right first for PF
Set V2 which we get from FMC
Alt - set to 9900 to remind us we haven’t set it yet until ATC give clearance
Course changes course bar
EFIS control pannel
Either side of MCP
Can set QNH
Press std baro non to cycle from 1013 to QNH
Always set alt first on MCP
Set Nav displays
Press Nav display button - changes the whole compass rose
Plan display - gives flight plan
FMA
Flight mode annunciators
Above the PFD
MCP is what we want FMA shows what we have
Every time we change MCP we check FMA
